SDL Tridion 2013 Released!
SDL, the leading provider of solutions for Customer Experience Management announces the launch of SDL Tridion 2013. This new release refreshes workflow functionality and makes it easier for customers to integrate with external media content providers.
SDL Tridion 2013 adds workflow functionality and the ability to connect to external content libraries, thereby extending the reach of the content editor. SDL Tridion 2013 also consolidates the Experience Manager (formerly the SiteEdit product line) into the main SDL Tridion platform.
Workflow and Bundles
Bundles have been introduced as a new concept in SDL Tridion and allow multiple items to be handled together in content management processes. This concept makes it easier for editors to work together on content projects, by ensuring all necessary items for the project are bundled together. Bundles may be content ported, resulting in all items associated to the bundle being ported. It is also possible to add attachments to bundles.
Updates have also been made to the Workflow functionality of SDL Tridion including:
This release also adds improvements to the SDL Tridion User Interfaces, introducing a new activities area in the header area that provides "always available" access to workflow task lists, the message center and user preferences.
External Content Libraries
External Content Libraries is an extension of the SDL Tridion Architecture that allows companies to unlock external (non SDL Tridion) systems and expose the content from those systems inside the SDL Tridion user interface. Editors are able to browse, search and use the external content as if the external content were inside the SDL Tridion repository.
The External Content Library is released with a few pre-built connectors for a.o. SDL Media Manager and ADAM Digital Asset Management system. An open API is also available on this functionality to allow customers and implementers to easily build their own connectors.
